The nebula was quiet, but Admiral Elara Vance knew the silence was deceptive. The enemy had retreated, but their phantom fleet was still out there, hidden in the gas clouds. She had seen their ships on her sensors-faint, flickering, like ghosts.

"Command, this is Vance. I'm tracking a phantom fleet."

"Copy, Vance. They're using cloaking technology. Be careful."

Elara adjusted her course, following the faint energy trail. The phantom fleet was fast, but she was patient.

"There," she said. "I've got them."

She fired a volley at the lead ship, and its cloak flickered, revealing its hull.

"Contact," she said. "I'm engaging."

The phantom fleet scattered, but she pursued, picking them off one by one.

"Command, the phantom fleet is destroyed."

"Copy, Vance. Good work. You've eliminated a serious threat."

Elara turned her fighter toward home, the nebula closing in behind her. The enemy had tried to use stealth against them, but she had seen through their trick.

She knew there would be more phantom fleets, more cloaked ships. But she was learning to see them, to track them, to destroy them.

The galaxy was a battlefield of shadows, and she was becoming a master of the hunt. She would keep pursuing the ghosts through the nebulae until the enemy had nowhere left to hide. The End.

The names on the list burned in Sergeant First Class Marcus Webb's memory. Twelve traitors, embedded across three continents. Each one a soldier he might have trusted. Each one a knife waiting to strike.

"We hit them simultaneously at 0600," he said, pointing at the holographic map. "Chen, you take Europe. Miller, Asia. I'll handle the States. No warnings. No second chances."

Chen studied the faces on the screen. "They won't see us coming."

"That's the point."

The helicopters lifted off before dawn, ferrying teams to safe houses, barracks, and command posts. Marcus's target was a major, a man he'd served with for years. He was drinking coffee in his quarters when Marcus kicked the door open.

"Major Townsend. You're under arrest."

He didn't resist. Didn't speak. Just stared at Marcus with empty eyes.

By noon, all twelve were in custody. The network was broken.

Marcus stood in the command center, the weight of the day pressing down. Chen appeared beside him.

"It's over," he said.

Marcus shook his head. "It's never over. But today, we won."

He walked toward the window, watching the sun set over the base. The traitors were caught. The immediate threat was gone.

But somewhere in the darkness, new enemies were already plotting.

And Marcus Webb would be waiting. Always waiting.
